Artist's Comments: I grew up in the Okanagan and studied fine art at what is now called UBC-Okanagan. My primary art mediums through university were drawing and photography.

After achieving my Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in 2001, I moved to the lower mainland and worked in almost every arts related role I came across - from various cultural festivals, theatres and events, to galleries and for many years at a BC based art supply store.

In 2007 I decided that I needed to find a better balance between working in the arts and creating my own art. Since then I have been working part time in the arts and have focused on developing my fine art photography practice.

With a life-long appreciation of the outdoors, it is easy to see why my images reflect the colours and themes presented in nature. Given my fine art training, I enjoy capturing the natural ‘compositions’ that I find in nature. Whether macro or landscape, I love being in the moment with my camera, taking it all in through the view finder, and composing fine art vignettes through the photographic medium.

Please feel free to visit my website for more examples of my work: photography, drawing, painting, print making and installation work are all shown online.

How do I print my photographs?
I print my own images in my studio using a unique printing system called sublimation. Using this method, the printed images are similar to a tattoo on the substrate: they are beneath the surface of each substrate- the images cannot be scratched off and as such are highly resistant to being in high traffic areas. There is no glass, no varnish or coating, and no traditional application process involved at all: this printing method requires a heavy duty heat press, as well as the ink/printing system and blank stock all made specifically for this type of print method. This type of printing results in vibrant colours, high gloss surface, and many people have commented that they seem to be “high definition”.

I shoot with a Nikon D300, and the majority of my images are taken locally. I personally love being able to take photographs in the morning and then print them in the afternoon in my studio.

As of April 2010 I have begun printing my own images on large scale canvas, then stretching them like traditional photographs.
