I have had a passion for photography ever since I can remember. I got my first SLR film camera after graduating high school and the bug hit me hard. I volunteered at Red Deer College as a photographer in the school paper and worked in photo labs and did camera sales for 4 or 5 years. In 1988 I became a teacher and started my photography business as a sideline in 2001.

I have written 7 books which I use for my courses. My photos have appeared on the news, in newspapers, in published books, in art galleries, and on the internet. I do wedding, commercial, family, and product photography on an occasional basis when the opportunity presents itself.

My favourite areas of photography are wildlife, landscape, and close up. In university I did a Batchelor’s degree in zoology, which explains my wildlife and macro interests. I love the outdoors and do a lot of camping, canoeing, and kayaking. I travel western Canada and the western US during summers, taking pictures of all kinds of wonderful things along the way.

Other than taking pictures, my favourite thing to do is to teach what I am passionate about. I run a classroom out of my house where I teach my photo classes. The classes are small, usually 4 to 6 people, which allows for a lot of one to one attention. We have fun and learn at the same time.
